GSoI’s August Craft Month Event 26 was hosted at A

GSoI’s August Craft Month Event 26 was hosted at Adrienne Diamond’s Glass Farm in County Leitrim. Over the two day event, eight participants gathered together as creatives in a rich atmosphere of sharing techniques and ideas.

With lots of cross collaboration, the workshop really got into the swing of working in hot glass, with teamwork between all the artists and deep connections formed.

Thank you to DCCI’s August Craft Month and GSoI for making this opportunity possible. It was an exciting two days and so important to our practice as artists.

The Blowfish Galley’s 15X15 Exhibition opened yest

The Blowfish Galley’s 15X15 Exhibition opened yesterday, and GSoI were delighted to have four members’ work included.

The whole exhibition is
beautifully curated by Bethany Wood, Blowfish Gallery’s founder and director. The uniform size of the works allows a bringing together of the huge range of techniques and disciplines that is glass.
There were many other interesting works, including hot sculpting, flameworking, engraving, mosaic, stained glass and pâte-de-verre. All were displayed on the exhibition’s trademark, visually effective wall mounted cubes.

The exhibition is open from September 2nd until October 22nd.

The GSoI would like to thank our talented photographer, Philip Lauterbach, who over a number of days, took shots of the works in ‘Of Sand & Ash’. One of Ireland’s most experienced interior and architectural photographer, he captured the unique qualities of each art work, whilst creating a unified series of atmospheric shots for the exhibition catalogue.

There is an exciting event happening next weekend 22 / 23rd August at the Glass Farm in Leitrim.

Supported by August Craft Month (DCCI) and GSoI, the Glass Farm invites you to:

‘Cross Collaboration — A Gathering of Glassmakers & Creatives’

What if... you gave yourself two days to experiment, connect and discover what is possible?

GSoI invites up to 12 glassmakers to gather at The Glass Farm for a two-day creative experiment, a chance to step away from your own studio, meet fellow makers and see what happens when curious minds and hot glass come together.

Day 1 — We talk, dream and brainstorm. What if ......we combined these materials? What if ......we tried these processes together? What if .....we drew on these concepts? The afternoon gets hands-on with practical sessions to test those ideas in real time.

Day 2 — We make. Experiment freely, test processes, push boundaries and see where the work takes you.
The event will be documented throughout and outcomes shared with the wider craft community. But beyond the work itself this is about connection — breaking the isolation of the studio, sparking new ideas and building friendships that last beyond the two days.

Set in the wild and beautiful landscape of North Leitrim, The Glass Farm is the perfect place to ignite your practice.
