Thank you to everyone that helped make our day at Collins Barracks such a success. We launched our new publication ‘Glass Ireland 2024’ and also our Education Pack and dedicated schools page on this site.
Thank you to Síobhan Doyle, curator at Collins Barracks, for leading our morning session. She gave us all a guided tour of the new Harry Clarke exhibition and we then explored a selection of objects from the glass collection at NMI up close. These objects included work by members Alison Lowry and Derek Irvin – his bowl is the newest glass addition to the National collection and was purchased at the Peace Bowls exhibition. Currently thirteen members of GSoI have work in the National Collection.
Thank you to Sadhbh Mowlds for sharing with us so generously her work and the processes she uses to make them. Mowlds kindly allowed her lecture to be recorded and can be viewed on our lecture page in the members only section.
Thank you to Alison Mac Cormac for leading the discussion around the treasure table. Thank you to Dónal Maguire, Keeper of Art and Industry for welcoming us all and to Lilliput Stores for the delicious food that sustained us through the whole day.
Thank you to The European Crafts Alliance for funding this day. We were delighted to be part of Crafts Days which took place throughout Europe on the same weekend.
