GSoI’s milestone exhibition, ‘Of Sand & Ash’ opened at the National Design & Craft Gallery, Kilkenny on August 6th, 2026. In partnership with the Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI), it showcases contemporary glass in Ireland, bringing together 68 talented makers working in a wide range of glass disciplines.
The exhibition tells the story of glass through its makers, their work, materials and processes. It unfolds in glass making technique chapters including, ‘Heat and Breath’, ‘Time and Pressure’, ‘Surface and Trace’, ‘Light and Structure’, ‘Object’, ‘Vessel and Form’, ‘Expanded Glass’ and ‘In the Making’. Visitors are introduced to the studio practices that define the medium of glass, gaining insight into both the technical execution and the underlying intent behind each work.
The GSoI were honoured to work with co-curators, Lindsay LeBlanc and Ava Hayes, and with their expertise, ‘Of Sand & Ash’ has been brought together with vision and style.
The exhibition runs from August 6th to October 24th, 2026.
