At a time when vital craft skills are under threat and even endangered and, as Glenn Adamson has written, ‘students no longer have the opportunity to acquire skills in a deep way’, the theme of the 2024 edition of Glass Ireland – covering the period July 2023 to June 2024 – is Education.
Proposals may arise from experiences in and/or academic research on knowledge sharing and collaboration; craft education and skills training; tradition and innovation; the value of making and the opportunities that arise from learning new skills; research into historic practices; the challenges that current practitioners face and the future of production and independent studio practices.
