BLOW
A GLASS BUBBLE AT JERPOINT GLASS STUDIOS, KILKENNY ARTS CENTRE

Did you ever want to try glassblowing? We are inviting
you to come and have a go! This free event will take place on Friday,
August 17th from 10 am to 2 pm facilitated by Rory Leadbetter family
member and Master Glassblower, as part of their Kilkenny Arts Festival
celebrations. Visitors are always welcome to view the glassblowing but
now they can be right in the middle of the action!

Rory will guide participants through the techniques
involved in taking a gather from the furnace, controlling the blowing
iron and blowing a glass bubble. Each session will take between 10 and
15 minutes and is free of charge although spaces for must be booked in
advance by calling Jerpoint on 056 7724350.

During Kilkenny Arts Festival Jerpoint Glass will also
host an exhibition of batik paintings by Bernadette Madden entitled
“Sunlight & Shadow” and “I Am A Vessel” a collection of painting and
sketches by Roisin Leadbetter. Visitors are welcome to come to the
studio to view the glassblowing, browse in the adjacent shop and view
the exhibitions in the gallery throughout the year.
