From Flame to Fuse is a two day workshop designed for people who want a solution to how to use offcuts and scraps generated from flat glass projects. The workshop will explore methods and techniques of working at the torch using waste glass. With a focus on Bullseye glass scrap, specifically for including into fused glass projects glass. The workshop will cover how to break down sheet glass scraps to reform them at the torch to make rods and stringers that can be further manipulated in the flame. Over two days, participants will have the opportunity to learn simple flame working skills that will include how to make a variety of simple shapes and drawn imagery alongside different methods of colour application, using both bench and hand torches. These elements will then be taken to the kiln for explore the effects of further heat manipulation.
The working day will be structured around demonstrations and plenty of individual practice at the torch. There will be individual guidance and group discussions. We will be focused on exploration and investigation and testing rather than creating finished products.
