Keep Well – A collaborative project

Through ‘The Glass Quilt’ project we will be offering members the opportunity to come together in a variety of ways and to create an artwork which can be shared in a public setting.

The project will involve a number of informative and exploratory Zoom sessions around the introduction of the project, the making of the individual glass pieces, and the placement of the completed piece. The project will be opened to a wide variety of glass processes allowing members to showcase their talents. We will also be running 3 on line demonstrations offering informative and inspiring insights from some of our most talented professional glassmakers. Furthermore we will be sharing the making processes from both individual glassmakers and of the fabrication of the final piece through our online channels.

The only catch you must be a GSOI member and ……. there will be a limited number of applicants allowed so you will have to respond quickly.

The theme for our project is ‘A Breath of Fresh Air’. It has been chosen to reflect the difficult lockdown situation experienced in Ireland and around the world over the last year. We believe however, it is also a positive theme and one which can be interpreted both through abstract and concrete visual representation . We know that lockdown has been a period of isolation for many, but perhaps you have been exploring your local area, maybe you have noticed some specific objects near your home or perhaps you have come to appreciate some aspects of working from home. We can’t wait to see how this broad theme is interpreted by our members.

Join us to find out more at 7pm on Wednesday 17th over on zoom.
