THEME FOR GLASS IRELAND 2025 – PLACE
Craft is generally associated with a culture of making and the materials and skills that exist in a particular place. Over the centuries the story of glass has left an indelible mark in many places such as Murano in Italy and Waterford in Ireland. The theme of the 2025 edition of Glass Ireland – covering the period July 2024 to June 2025 – is Place.
Proposals may arise from working with and/or academic research on materials and skills associated with place; employing these skills in a particular way or perhaps introducing them to a place for the first time. The story of glassmaking in a particular place, experiences of travel or stories that draw on a sense of place. Making work that reflects or speaks of place.
