CRAFTS COUNCIL OF IRELAND CRAFT BUSINESS MENTORS

The CCoI has for many years recognised the importance of mentoring. Following evaluation and extensive research the CCoI is now running an expanded mentoring scheme under its Strategic Plan 2010 – 2012. Mentoring is a key element of the CCoI Enterprise Strategy. The main objective of the CCoI scheme is to provide expertise, which will help improve the design, production and commercial prospects of individual craft enterprises. Mentoring in recent times has covered many aspects ranging from glaze development and product design through to business and strategic planning.

Each craft enterprise applying will be asked to set their objectives and outline how much mentoring they require and how it will benefit the business. These will be presented on the application form (see below to download). This mentoring scheme has greatly assisted the product and business development of 115 craft enterprises in the last two years.

The utmost care is taken in matching successful mentee applicants with the required expertise. You can also browse the profiles of 50 mentors on the CCoI website. You will find highly professional, interesting and varied mentor skill sets.

A selection panel will stress test the objectives and assess the proposal. Each successful mentoring applicant will be assigned a mentor in consultation with the Enterprise Development Programme Manager. The closing date for Craft Business Mentors is 24th February 2012.
